Micro-Entreprises
Working in one of the 20 associations forms an integral part of the Grande Ecole educational programme. Associations constitute authentic platforms designed to enable students to gain professional experience, to work as part of a team, and to manage and develop projects in an operational context that mirrors that of a real business. Students are supervised and assessed, putting their theoretical knowledge of business management into practice “on the job”.
The mission of the BDE is to coordinate student life and the school's 20 associations. It constitutes a key element of the association scheme.
Puma (Promotion Unit and Media Actions) organises numerous events designed to boost the profile of ESC Rennes School of Business. These include conference programmes, the “Négociales” in Rennes (a national sales competition run in partnership with businesses), presentations to prospective students and open days.
Bretagne Conseil is a junior association at ESC Rennes School of Business. As a junior marketing advice bureau, this organisation exists to conduct research on behalf of companies of all sizes, associations, groups and even business start-ups.
OPERA (developing and encouraging excellence and success through support) aims to help senior secondary school pupils with strong academic potential from less well-off backgrounds to gain entrance to higher education courses.
To do this, the association organises introductory Grande Ecole sessions, mentors and coaches senior school students and organises round tables and corporate visits.
Cheer Up is an association that supports young cancer sufferers, helping them to build their futures and succeed in their careers. Students involved in the scheme meet young patients in hospital with a view to defining a career plan, as well as helping to raise the funding necessary to make these projects a reality by organising events both in and out of school. They also work to raise public awareness of the fight against cancer.
A charity association run by ESC Rennes School of Business, Sup de Coeur offers personal, logistical and financial help in aid of humanitarian projects, whilst also supporting the work of a Rennes-based association, Défi. Défi (which means “challenge”) trains teachers in Madagascar and funds the building of new schools in a bid to improve education and living conditions in the country.
Well Come is an association that helps international students spending one or two terms at ESC Rennes School of Business to integrate, by providing advice and general support. The team also organises a range of events to encourage students to feel part of the school right throughout the year.
Rennes Job Service puts businesses in touch with students with a view to offering them temporary and seasonal jobs. This association exists for the benefit of all students at the school, finding them missions and ensuring that these run smoothly.
This association aims to raise awareness of sustainable development, to change behaviour and to promote the social economy through a range of different projects. Ter&Co is working in conjunction with ESC Rennes School of Business to create a school that respects the environment. It organises numerous schemes on the theme of sustainable development, such as two-day sustainable development drives at the school, a car-sharing website and awareness-raising activities aimed at children.
This association organises and promotes the 4L Challenge Trophy, a high profile humanitarian event in the student and European sporting calendar. The 4L trophy is first and foremost about charity. In 2010, almost 80 tonnes of school, medical and IT equipment were donated by the Enfants du Désert association to various schools in southern Morocco. Every year sees more than 1,200 teams from France and Europe set off on the expedition.
This association aims to introduce students to the world of stock exchanges and finance. To this end, Breizh Investors manages the Reuters Thomas trading floor of ESC Rennes School of Business, organises finance-related events and competitions and holds lunch debates with professionals. It also enables students to gain a taste of life in the major financial centres.
The BDA is an arts and culture association at ESC Rennes School of Business, and as such organises various events right throughout the year, such as training days, fashion shows to promote young designers and cabaret performances.
Every year this association produces a useful guide full of tips and things to do in Rennes: Chouch’Rennes has a circulation of 20,000 copies, and involves more than 30 business partners.
Warlock is the multimedia association at ESC Rennes School of Business. Its main activities involve producing televised news and films for other associations, creating a Yearbook and publishing the school magazine “Sous les palmiers”. Warlock also organises a national short film competition.
DESCibel exists to promote music in all its forms at ESC Rennes School of Business and within the Rennes metropolis. It has also launched the radio station DESCibel, which is broadcast on http://www.descibel-radio.webuda.com/
The role of Apogée is two-fold: it holds a special event to promote oenology and gastronomy in general, and also organises the ESC Rennes School of Business annual gala.
The BDS is in charge of sport for the students of ESC Rennes School of Business, and organises numerous events such as inter-association tournaments, disabled sport days and charity football tournaments with businesses.
Every year Ren’Events organises the Rennes triathlon, one of the region’s flagship sporting events that attracts 5,000 competitors and over 15,000 spectators. This association also adopts an innovative approach to its triathlons, by organising races involving more than one sport.
IRO (intercontinental challenge organisation) is the extreme sport association at ESC Rennes School of Business. Consisting of 18 members, this team organises events such as SKIRO (a week’s skiing), the Saut du Coeur (bungee jumping in Rennes city centre), the inter-university challenge, paintballing and laser tagging.
Océania is the sailing association at ESC Rennes School of Business. The association’s main goal is to take part in the EDHEC cruiser race, along with 6,000 other students. Other missions include collecting litter from Breton beaches, and organising the ESC Rennes School of Business cruise race and the sailing day for underprivileged youngsters.
Fast Rennes is the motor sports association at ESC Rennes School of Business. It aims to share its passion for motor racing by organising a range of exciting events: go-karting evenings, road safety days at the school and eco-driving sessions, not forgetting the main highlight "Notre rêve, leur espoir": racing car rides on Le Mans’ Bugatti circuit in aid of the French Telethon fundraising event. |
