Based in Brittany, the ESC Rennes School of Business is an international school which aims to pass on its passion for entrepreneurship and sustainable innovation to future managers and company heads by teaching and researching into management based on values of exploration, understanding, diversity and responsibility, enabling them to be operational in a global environment.

Our world is changing and will continue to evolve at a rapid pace over the next few decades. The origins behind such change lie chiefly in the development of new technologies and an awareness of environmental issues. More importantly, these changes are taking place within the context of a globalised economy.

ESC Rennes School of Business aims to prepare its students to develop within this context:

  • The school boasts an international environment unrivalled in Europe: 80% of its full-time lecturers and a third of its students are from abroad. This international dimension simultaneously pervades its culture, teaching, courses and qualifications, as well as underscoring everyday life and ambitions.

  • As a management Grande Ecole, ESC Rennes School of Business is firmly committed to creating new knowledge through research activities, ensuring that its courses are continually updated with the latest discoveries from the world of management science.

“Enaction”, the educational approach behind IBPM, is fully consistent with this innovation-focused strategy. This avant-garde learning concept stems from research in the area of cognitive sciences, arming students with the ability to embrace continual change and to view it as a permanent opportunity to learn and update their knowledge. Students learn by doing to become the managers of tomorrow, whose responsibility will lie in managing business performance at ground level, in line with constantly shifting goalposts.

We can offer you a mutually enriching and exacting experience. Together we can ensure that you achieve your goal.

Mission

Mission

puce_Bachelor Learning through discovery and action in a changing world

IBPM starts by teaching its students to adopt an enactive stance which is then formalised inthe form of  'learning loops'. Each loop begins with the introduction of a new context (a business, the international environment etc.), followed by theoretical contributions from and exchanges with faculty members in order to consolidate and appraise students’ observations.

It is in moving from one loop to the next that students learn to learn. They learn how to become 'enactive'.

This progressive vision, which underpins the IBPM educational approach, is fully consistent with a business and management study programme designed for future graduates. In this ever-changing, globalised world, the importance of lifelong learning across all situations cannot be overestimated.

The enaction educational method is designed to give students a head start in rising to this challenge.

right_vert The International Bachelor Programme in Management is designed to train field managers. A field manager is an operational manager whose chief mission is to implement business strategy at ground level.

As an IBPM student with 17 months’ hands-on business experience you’ll be in a position to:

• build your managerial skill set in line with your career plan. Being in close contact with economic players from the real world teaches you to react quickly, precisely and appropriately to situations that are often unforeseen, always urgent and generally complex.

• become an accomplished communicator and negotiator. You are the business intermediary at ground level and will need to learn to communicate and negotiate effectively and independently. You must be able to manage human and cultural diversity in order to safeguard the future of your business in years to come.

• understand the managerial challenges associated with responsible and sustainable development. It is the operational manager’s duty to act in an ethical and responsible manner in order to create longstanding value for every one of the team’s stakeholders.

puce_Bachelor Centre for personal and professional development

The centre for personal and professional development is your constant companion during your studies, guiding you throughout your time as a student. It will help you to define your professional objectives and to choose courses consistent with your career plan. This accompaniment is reinforced by specific courses, group and individual training sessions and workshops.

puce_Bachelor Centre for Globality Training

A global manager will have to manage multinational teams across several geographical zones. The Centre for Globality Training prepares students for this challenge, by developing their understanding of themselves and of other cultures.

puce_Bachelor Knowing yourself

The better you know yourself, the easier it is to understand others. It is a way of improving your relational effectiveness and therefore your group leadership qualities.

Knowledge of at least two foreign languages is vital for those operating in today’s international business environment. These language skills are acquired through intensive language courses, immersion in a foreign country and a 3rd year of studies taught entirely in English. As well as the most common languages (English, Spanish and German), IBPM also gives students the opportunity to pursue rare languages studied as a second foreign language at secondary school: Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and Arabic.

An understanding of the intercultural environment and geopolitics is taught through specialist cycles that complete the studies on cultural diversity

puce_Bachelor A school built around business

ESC Rennes School of Business has put businesses at the heart of the establishment. They play an active part in students’ education, from the start of their studies until their graduation, by participating in admission panels and examining boards, freshers’ week, careers round tables, the recruitment fair, conference debates, performance workshops, sponsorship and degree ceremonies. Their availability, experience and involvement translate into numerous opportunities for students to trial their career plan, develop a professional network, and find a work placement, work/study programme or job.

The world and us

Today’s economy is a global one. Aware of the expectations and needs of businesses, ESC Rennes School of Business has, since its inception, been developing a study programme with a resolutely international outlook. All business managers must be able to manage diversity and interculturality, whilst evolving in a global world. Our 70 research lecturers, 80% of whom are foreigners representing 25 different nationalities, provide our students with a unique international perspective. This means that students can acquire the skills required by those shaping the world economy.
